The Joys of
June One of the
joys of feeding birds is witnessing the trials and errors of
young birds as they make their first trips to your feeders
with their parents. Like all
youngsters, they're awkward, noisy and a demanding bunch.
Patience is obviously a virtue with the parents as they coerce
their fledglings to start fending for themselves at your
feeders.
Over the years, we've discovered
that nature lovers who begin each season with a customized
feeding strategy are the ones who see the best results. Stop
by our store this month; our Certified Birdfeeding Specialists
are glad to help you develop a custom strategy for your own
backyard.

our WBU Ranchette Retreat in your backyard and get ready to
count the birds! You have lots of options with this feeder,
and your birds will have lots of space to feast. The durable
cedar hopper holds 1-1/2 gallons of seed, and you can place
two different flavors of suet in the two side cages. Plus, the
screen bottom lifts out for easy cleaning. With a variety of
food sources, you'll likely attract many different species
such as jays, chickadees, woodpeckers and
more. | |

Most birds will sweep through
the seed at a feeder seeking just the right one to eat.
Encourage your birds to have tidy dining habits by using
tray feeders, attaching trays to existing feeders and
exploring seed blends that contain only the seeds they
will eat.

| Woodpeckers - Considering the
pounding it takes, why doesn't a Woodpecker's bill wear
down to a ragged nub? Wear down it does, but special
cells on the end of the bill are constantly replacing
the lost material. This keeps the chisel-pointed bill
strong and resilient, while actually allowing it to be
sharpened with every blow. Learn
more about woodpeckers.
