Tidy Birdfeeding
Use trays and special seed blends for tidy feeding!
|
|
Most
birds will sweep through the seed at a feeder seeking just the right one
to eat. You can keep some of this seed from falling to the ground by
placing a tray underneath the feeder. Round trays are perfect to attach
to seed tube feeders and rectangular trays suit hopper feeders best. And
bigger is better because there's more area to catch falling seeds!
Encourage your birds to have tidy dining habits by using tray feeders,
attaching trays to existing feeders and exploring seed blends that contain
only the seeds they will eat. What are you feeding your birds?
Consider the type of seed or blend you are putting in your
birdfeeders. Many birds favor black oil sunflower and striped sunflower
but are not as fond of millet. You can also choose to offer a seed out
of the hull, such as sunflower chips, or a blend of seeds out of the
hulls, such as Wild Birds Unlimited "No-Mess" blend.
In addition, all Wild Birds Unlimited custom seed blends are
regionally formulated to contain the seeds your local birds prefer - so
fewer seeds are wasted and dropped to the ground. The Certified
Birdfeeding Specialists at Wild Birds Unlimited stores can help you
choose the right seed for your situation.
